Invitation to Integration

Entheogenic/psychedelic integration is the process by which the material accessed and insights gained in an entheogenic experience are incorporated over time into one’s life in a way that benefits ourselves and our communities. (ERIE)

In this Guidebook, licensed clinicians Julie D. Megler and Mary McDermott share the basic principles of integration, as well as a structure to approach it and understand our own experiences more deeply.

J+M: OUR STORY

Julie D. Megler, MSN, NP-BC and Mary McDermott, MFT, LPPC met at the Maloka at The Temple of the Way of Light in Iquitos, Peru. They had both been invited to participate in a group process to develop the Integration program there. Serendipitously, Julie and Mary were seated next to each other during the ceremonies on the retreat. It was during the ceremonies, Julie was drawn to Mary’s focus and gentleness while Mary was aware of Julie’s presence and strength. Mary and Julie recognized in each other a deep pssion for their journey on the path of evolution and a shared commitment to Integration work, and a balance in the friendship evolved. The two, for years, had been separately working on integration teaching materials and exercises designed to be accessible to those seeking healing or to be healers through psychedelics. The two joined forces to offer groups and workshops about integration in conjunction with Entheogenic Research, Integration, & Education (ERIE) and the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). Through the feedback and request from participants, the depth and breadth of their collaborative offering will soon be available in a workbook.

Mary and Julie have gratitude and respect for all of their teachers known and unknown that have come before them. They continue to be humbled by the generosity that is occurring during this process.

Much love,

J+M
